CLR Hotfix Available for Visual Studio 2008 Rapid-Crashing

If you have been experiencing Visual Studio 2008 rapid-crashes with no Dr. Watson dialogs when working in XAML please read this blog entry, a CRL Hotfix as been posted.

You can read the MSDN Thread Explaining the Problem here.

If you have the symptoms mentioned in the above thread, it is quite likely to cure your problem.

You can download the patch here.

This is a temporary download page which is a little confusing at the moment, but will be updated when the full KB article for this Hotfix is made available, so you will need some additional information to make use of it:

  1. The *.msu are patches for Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008
  2. The *.exe Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
  3. Even if you are using 64-bit machines, you still need x86 patch since Visual Studio 2008 is a 32-bit application
  4. Sorry we do not have a version of this patch for Windows 7 at present

If you have any questions or comments please post them on the above MSDN thread.

Have a great day,

Just a grain of sand on the worlds beaches.
